We are proud to have a state-of-the-art fundus camera to capture clear images of the back of your eye. Dr. Shaw will order these to be done if any pathology or abnormalities are seen. However, we do offer photos as a screening add-on to more completely monitor your eye health through the years, much like dental X-rays.
Detailed scans and maps of various areas of the eye can be obtained with the OCT. Many conditions are monitored closely with the OCT, some of which include glaucoma, macular degeneration, papilledema, epiretinal membrane, diabetic retinopathy, macular holes, high-risk medications such as Plaquenil-usage, and many more.
Dr. Shaw is excited to announce that East Avenue Vision Center is the ONLY practice in Buffalo to adopt the AdaptDx Pro™ test as part of our effort to detect and monitor age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The AdaptDx Pro is an innovative, wearable headset that offers a simple, non-invasive test to measure the time it takes a patient’s vision to adjust from bright light to darkness, a process known as dark adaptation.
Automated visual field machine that is used to monitor signs of glaucoma, visual field defects from strokes, the effect of high-risk medication and many more.
